This cultural idea is called “Discover Havana”, since you’ll see all the landmarks mentioned, though not necessarily enter each one. Thanks to knowledgeable guides and careful planning, this makes a perfect introduction to Havana.

Start of on Plaza de la Revolución, “Revolution Square” wich is a municipality and a square in Havana, Cuba. The municipality, one of the 15 forming the city, stretches from the square down to the sea at the Malecón and includes the Vedado district

The Plaza is 31st largest city square in the world (largest city squares), measuring 72,000 square meters. The square is notable as being where many political rallies take place andFidel Castroand other political figures address Cubans. Fidel Castro has addressed more than a million Cubans on many important occasions, such as 1 May and 26 July each year.

If you divide the capitol in two parts, you will get Old Havana, largely car-free so you will visit this part on foot. This historic and colonial center is an open air museum of architecture, art and culture – a real treat for history and culture buffs. The other half is called modern Havana, but certainly not less interesting, just very urban and genuine, with definitely historical toppers, although from a later era.

After a cultural encounter with the Vedado , we suggest you to head to The Capitol of Havana. El Capitolio , or National Capitol Building in Havana , Cuba , was the seat of government in Cuba until after the Cuban Revolution in 1959 , and now it is the home of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba . ” The Capitol ” has a size of 681 by 300 feet. Its design and name recall the United States Capitol in Washington, DC, but it is only superficially similar . Completed in 1929 , was the tallest building in Havana until the 1950s and houses the third largest indoor statue in the world.

On your way to The Park Morro- Cabaña, you can stop by the Statue of Francisco de Miranda. A classic bronze statue on the square in Havana, Cuba.Francisco de Miranda (1750-1816), was the forefather of Spanish American Independence.

The Park Morro- Cabaña was one of the greatest defenses ever built by the Spaniards in what was then called the New World. The fort is on the other side of Havana Bay and offers spectacular views over the city.

Coming back from Morro, you can walk all the way to Malecon at night or sunset time. It is a wonderful experience and view. You will find all type if local people enjoying the calm malecon, or simply walking looking and admiring the sea view.

Enjoy your trip “Discover Havana ” it is a havanaair.com treat.
